Crisis Centers

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is the only national suicide prevention and intervention telephone resource funded by the Federal Government. Its mission is to provide immediate assistance to individuals in suicidal crisis by connecting them to the nearest available suicide prevention and mental health service provider through a 24-hour, toll-free telephone number—1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Suicide and Crisis Helplines around the World. This is the site of former Befrienders International, which is now maintained by Samaritans (UK and ROI). Provides access to suicide and crisis helplines in over 40 countries. The site is available in over 10 languages.

The Trevor Helpline. This is a national 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention hot line aimed at gay and questioning youth. Calls are handled by highly trained counselors and are free and confidential.
